The Square classics
Phil Howard established a reputation as one of Britain’s very best chefs over 25 years at his Mayfair restaurant The Square. He earned the restaurant its first Michelin star while still in his 20s and a second star soon followed. The food was exciting, exacting to cook but, most of all, utterly delicious.
For one night only in December, Elystan Street will be hosting a reunion of some of the people who made The Square such an iconic restaurant. Phil will be joined in the kitchen by former Square head chef Rob Weston and old faces like sommelier Chris Delalonde will be there too.
The menu will be a compendium of some of the very best dishes to grace the menu at The Square over Phil’s quarter century of cooking there. It’s going to be an unmissable night both for those with fond memories of The Square and those who never had the opportunity to dine there.
A WORD FROM PHIL HOWARD
“My time at The Square was incredibly special and during the 25 years I spent in the restaurant’s kitchen there were maybe ten or so dishes that became signature dishes. They are all that I love about food and cooking and are magnificent examples of dishes that are borne to deliver as much pleasure to the consumer as they do the the cook creating them. My cooking has evolved since The Square but for one night only The Square’s heart will beat in the E-Street kitchen and we will deliver a series of master blaster dishes to re-live the heady days while I was there. This will be one special menu!”
